As a part of the 20th year celebration of the amateur radio division at Heil Sound, Ltd. Bob Heil introduces the product of nearly three years of dreaming, designing, tooling and now final production of one of the most unique amateur radio products, the Heil CLASSIC microphone. An exact copy of a 1930 broadcast microphone, the CLASSIC design is focused on the use with amateur radio transceivers. It contains two dynamic mic elements. The new "PRO LINE" wide frequency range broadcast element and your choice of the world famous Heil DX Dream machine HC-4 or the HC-5 full range communications element. A small switch located on the back panel along side the push to talk switch allows you to select the type of audio response needed for the particular communications needs. The CLASSIC is also available with the new high performance Heil "IC" electret element which is used exclusively for driving early ICOM transceivers.
Our XT-1 high impedance matching transformer is installed in each and every model of Classic. A small slide switch located in the bottom selects "High" or "Low" impedance operation. So important for those of us that operate boatanchor rigs as well as late model transceivers.
A flip of the small switch and the Classic matches your favorite rig.
The Heil "PRO LINE" broadcast microphone element exhibits a wide frequency range of 50 Hz ~ 18kHz with the traditional + 4dB rise at 2.2kHz - a Heil trademark to insure maximum communications articulation with a minimum of excessive electronic equalization necessary.
An extensive internal sorbothane rubber shock mount system complete with breath blast filter was devised by Heil for minimum handling noise - a problem so prevalent with many sensitive broadcast microphones. One set of end users call letters is supplied for the name flag by returning the warranty card.
The supplied base can be removed and this unique broadcast microphone can be suspended from the Heil PL-2 PROLINE balanced microphone boom systems.
The "CLASSIC" is delivered with a blue dust cover bag, just as the broadcast microphones of the 1930's. It is truly one of the fun new products from this inventive Southern Illinois audio icon.
